What is a PTO?
A Tractor PTO (Power take-off shaft) allows rotary power from the tractor to be transmitted through a drive shaft to the chosen implement, removing the need for an auxiliary engine (or power source) to drive implements.
A tractor’s PTO shaft transfers power from the engine to the implement, bypassing the need for an additional engine. That's what PTO is, but not what it means to farmers and the agricultural community. PTOs are arguably the most dangerous component of a tractor and a major cause of farm accidents and loss of life.
